I need a gift idea for a very close friend (so it doesn't have to be super cheap) who just found out she is pregnant. I really like ideas such as the cake made out of diapers, or the "baby bunch" that is a flower bouquet made out of baby clothes. Any creative ideas along these lines? I've had a baby, so I know that useful stuff is more important, but she loves clever things, and I can get her practical stuff later. Also, we have always given each other facial and massage gift certificates, so I want to stay away from presents for her. She is super excited about being pregnant, so I want to focus on baby stuff.
Gift ideas (not gift certs) for pregnant friend?
Why don't you get a jewel like a bracelet or someting which has some baby stuff on it or it says for a mom to be or which says for my best friend who is about to become a mom etc etc.. she'll a;ways cherish it.
Reply:I know you said no gift certificates...however, please consider what I have done in the past.
I made a coupon book (how many is up to you and your schedule) redeemable through me, of things that could be needed by your friend.
For instance:
2 coupons were in the book, redeemable for a night of free babysitting so she could have time out.
2 coupons were redeemable for a free box of diapers.
3 coupons were redeemable for a few hours of housekeeping/cooking/shopping.
Well, you get the point...the one I made was for my niece, so I had it full of ideas like that...and you know what...she redeemed almost every one of them!!! (The boxes of diapers "coupons" went un-used)
SO, it was well accepted and appreciated. :)
Reply:Check out www.georgietees.com or www.breezybeachwear.com (apparel section) for some fun gifts!
Reply:Diapers, diapers, and more diapers!!!
You can never get enough diapers as presents!!
Make a cake, even a bassinet out of them if you want, but give her diapers!!!
Reply:Expensive, but how about digital camera if she doesn't have one? She could shoot and view to heart's content of new babe and have a blast!
Reply:I make many of my gifts for babies of friends and family. The link I provided should give you some great ideas.
Another idea if you have a baby shower, for her. Ask each person to bring a box of pampers wrapped..NO BOWS OR RIBBON on it. We made up Large Alphabet letters about 6" high, cut from construction Paper. When the person brought the box of Pampers we took a glue stick and glued a letter on the Box. We then stacked them up staggered with the letters to the front. They looked like Giant Blocks. We put a bunch of helium balloons on top of the stack of Block Pamper boxes. It was part of the party decorations. She appreciated not having to buy diapers for a very long time.
We also gave them an envelope from a pack of Baby Thank You Notes to fill out with their name and address at the same time, so she would have to find addresses to send her Thank You Notes.
Reply:I made a flower bouquet with onesies, pacifiers, bottles, all practical stuff. The person I made it for never used the items though. It came out really great.
I am also really into photography. Consider getting her a cool scrapbook for photos and memorabilia. If she is a close friend then you could be the one to buy her a baby book.
One more idea, the coolest thing I did with my little boy was the "Precious Hands" kit. I did one of his hands and one of his feet and they still hang in his room. He is now ten years old.
Good Luck
Reply:How about going to one of those pottery places together and make something or one of those build a bear places where you put together your own stuffed animal. That would be special for the both of you. You could make something for her.
My son's aunt made a Christmas ornament for him. It is the cutest thing. Not much to it--just round with his name on it and birthdate--but very special, b/c she made it.
Reply:You could go to the craftstore and handmake a baby blanket for her, and customize it with the baby's name or something. I also, once saw a cake, made from baby blankets, toys, and diapers. It kinda looked like a wedding cake. It was made from 3 blankets which were folded into a long rectangle, then rolled up. Then they pinned toys around the edges of it. By time it was done it looked really cool.
Reply:I think it's too soon to buy gifts if she just found out.
Reply:Diapers, formula, homemade babysitting giftcards. Find out the name of the baby(when you can) and get a "this name means" plaque.
Reply:I agree if she just found out she's pregnant.....it's too soon to get her something now.......
Take her out to EAT!.......
Reply:I wish I would have had this - 1 year of diaper service.
Reply:At my baby shower a friend took a bunch of rolled up diapers and wash cloths and made it look like a tower or a big cake and on top of some of them were pacifiers and hair clips for a girl it was really cool she said she got it off the show sex in the city I am sure you could find cool stuff online
Reply:From personal experience while I was pregnant, my best gift I received was a basket, not just an ordinary basket, but a big basket, it had bath and body works lotion, loofah sponges, body wash, a brush, a new towel set, a manicure set, a very comfortable robe, and some other things I needed to make me feel better while in the hospital. Not that creative but very nice, I loved it. Another gift, but was for the baby, was a little scrubs outfit, you can get them in blue or pink, fits up to 12 lbs. The neat thing about them are when the baby is born, there is a place on the front where you can put the babys name, birth date, weight and height, and doctors name, so cute the baby looked adorable in it....like a little doctor! One more thing, anything from a boutique store would be different and most of the items there cannot be found most other places..unique is the key! Good luck and take care!
