Ok so my flower pot is 9 inches inside bottom to top. Inside diameter at bottom is 5 inches, diameter at top is 8 inches. It is a straight line from bottom to top.

The volume v of a frustum of a cone with vertical height h and end radii a and b is:

v = pi * h(b^2 + ab + a^2) / 3.



Provided it is the vertical height you have given, and not the slant height:

Putting a = 4 in, b = 2.5 in, h = 9 in:

v =3pi (2.5^2 + 2.5 * 4 + 4^2)

= 303.9 in^3.



If you have given the slant height, then:

h^2 + 1.5^2 = 9^2

h = 8.874 in.

and multiplying v by 8.874 / 9 gives:

v = 299.7 in^3.
