Im getting married and i'm using centerpieces with lime filled vases..?

I have seen so many beautiful arrangements for weddings with limes in the vases and then flowers but my question is all the vases are lined so perfectly with limes how am i suppose to get the limes slices against the vases liek that to look perfect? Any ideas??

LOL is just looking for points.

I starred this because I was interested in others answers as well, but I'd assume you'd halve enough limes to line the vase (I hope Im thinking of the same design you are!) then put whole limes (or whatever fruit) in there packed in to hold the others to the sides. I've seen them filled with water too, so maybe the limes stick to the side because of the water? You may just have to play with it until you get it how you want it.
Reply:try looking for books with stuff like that in it. you can fill it with whole limes and them shove sliced limes against the edges..
Reply:I don't like the lime idea. Back in the day they used to put limes in coffins to cover the scent of death. Not very romantic, huh?
Reply:I've never done this, but this is my thought. Try putting the sliced limes around the outside and filling the inside with limes as your layering goes. I have a feeling once you do it this way, it'll work quite well. the size of the vase is going to be key. good luck!

Edit: I just saw the previous poster's response. I thought about the water.. but.. I would be worried the fruit might float... I know lemons do, but maybe if theyre packed in there it wouldn't be an issue. it's worth a shot!
Reply:Hi Jessica:

I know exactly what you are talking about! Those look so pretty! Yes, I have often wondered the same thing. And....I believe that limes usually float so you will have to work with it a little. But, obviously it can be done because we have seen how nice they look.

Here is what I would do:

~ definitely take your time and do a few "trials"

~ I would slice the limes.....then put in something else to "hold them" like some of those vase gems or something.....then put the flowers in....and then put the water in. See if that works.

~ I think it will be just a trial and error thing to see what works out the best for you.

Good luck. Those are so pretty!
Reply:I just wanted to say that I think this sounds nice and "sunny" for centerpieces. Please don't listen to that first answer. I would try practicing with the lime slices before the reception and see if they will stick before you fill with flowers. Otherwise Take a look at "The knot.com" and see if they have the instructions for you. (Great wedding planning website and forum for brides to be!)

From what I can find, they aren't really lime slices, so much as lime halves. And you start at the bottom (obviously) and fill with lime halves filling as you go, working the stems of the flowers into the limes and them fill with water. check out the link below! Its made with oranges, but you get the idea! Good luck!

Congratulations!
Reply:eww lime filled vases sounds so tacky... everyone is going to know you couldn't hire someone to take care of this for you.

i would avoid doing this if I were you
