What can I grow on an old clothesline that will flower?

I have a clothesline that I don't use. It is about 20 ft long and has 3 lines and 2 T shaped iron end posts. I want to turn it into an arbor with something vining on it. I will put monofilament from each side of the "T" to little ground anchors, making knots every 12 inches. I live in southeast Louisiana in zone 9, and whatever I plant will get full morning sun.

Morning Glories come up quickly and cover everything! The seeds are cheap and easy, just plant and water. Clematis is one of my favorite climbing vines but they take a year or two get get established. Trumpet vines will grow 30 ft! But they get heavy and need strong support. For a quick fix, morning glories are the way to go. But you may want to plant some clematis with some climbing roses and in a year or two the combination will be spectacular. Another favorite of mine is wisteria but, like trumpet vine, they get heavy and need a strong support.

You are so lucky! In zone 9 you can grow just about anything. Have fun and send pictures! ;)
Reply:Honeysuckle is divine - Concord grapes would also make a nice little arbor... and yummy to eat.

Clematis also likes to climb, but out of it all the ever lovely honeysuckle is my favorite.

Reply:its a good idea but put strong wire from post to post as a washing line will rot in time and it will all come down .with the wind and rain good luck
Reply:Try some Jasmine. It should really take off in your area.
Reply:Trumpet vine.
Reply:trumpet vine will grow on anything.
