Which of the following senses is NOT appealed to by the following line from Ezra Pound's "The River-Merchant's Wife: A Letter"?
I played about the front gate, pulling flowers.
a.sight
b.smell
c.taste
d.touch
English please help?
1) a. alliteration
Alliteration is the repetition of the first consonant sounds, such as in "Taking", "Toast", and "Tea".
2) c. taste
Sight is appealed to by mentioning the front gate and flowers.
Smell is appealed to by the flowers, I suppose.
Touch is appealed to by the verb "pulling".
The second question is a little odd, but there is NOTHING in that line that even remotely appeals to taste. Best choice? C.
Reply:A for the first one because of the T's in Taking, Toast, and Tea
C for the second one.
Sight= played
Smell= flowers
touch= pulling the slowers
No taste.
