i dont want to paint anything or put a photo on, i just want to use say lines and colours. my living room's theme is tranquil and grassy(grass-y), i don't want to put in flowers so any ideas on what to put on a canvas?
Suggestions on what to put on a canvas?
Your theme seems good. Something to accentuate your room, not draw attention from it. My mother tells a story of when she took an art class. She was staring at a blank canvas when the instructor walked by. She said she wasn't sure where to start. The instructor painted a big X on the canvas and told here the first thing she should do is cover it up. Once she picked up the brush the ideas started flowing. After that she started every painting with a big X. Try it, it might work for you.
Reply:I think it's important to compliment the room, while still making the art piece an individual picture, and not just "part of the room."
Think about what colors go with the room..They don't have to match, but it's a good idea to select colors that look good with the general colors of the room.
Also, you may find it easier to make a painting that you like by simply painting spontaneously. I find that planning my paintings never works, because they never live up to the plan I had for them, and the painting always comes out different, and usually better than what I had in mind! :)
