Its not mine. I read it a while ago. I think its about adolescence. The trees represent parents, teachers, the roads diverging -drugs, smoking and weather changes- mood swings, etc.....
The road is laid down quite straight
but the journey is not, fate neither
I look back as I step over the line
unto that uncertain fate of mine
All hands that pick me when I fall
fade away as wave away my thrall
As I walk, new seeds sprout all along
And birds sing a strange new song
The once tall and magnificent trees
now seem old, withered and weak
Bearing fruits in bounties from flowers
Falling in heaps as I lavishly devour
If their fruits don't drop or are sour
I throw rocks for the fruits to shower
The sun shines pleasantly and rise
beautiful flowers, birds, butterflies
Suddenly the sun and all disappear
it becomes gloomy, dark and rainy
Hare hops along shortcuts, diverging
from the road; tempted, I start following
The further I go, the farther I stray
To the waiting wolves, I fall as prey
Breezes blow me back, without due
Along the road I start to continue
Yelling, I trip, I stumble and I fall
over sticks, rocks, roots, and weeds
Into a ditch, all bruised and bloody
I can't climb out, I crawl all muddy
Slowly tears vanish, wounds heal
I climb slowly out, fear I don't feel
Along a small slope the road slows
I stand tall as it curves and it goes
Somtimes I run, sometimes I walk
sometimes too tired I sit and stall
Path's end isn't seen, though near
as falling fog mists my view unclear
But the sun rises as a new dawn
I see the end, beyond and gone
As paradise, the road doesn't end
Ahead many more roads transcend
How is this poem.............................
It is a great poem, but more importantly I think you've interpreted it correctly also.I love to write poems, and to read them.As a matter of fact that was what I gave for Christmas this year.I wrote my friend and husband a poem. They had no deep hidden meaning as you found in this one though.Good job.
Reply:It isn't focused enough, wanders, like listening to someone talk just to hear themselves...... but then again what do I know.
Reply:mind touching, meaningful poem.
no words to express.
Reply:Beautiful. Really touching.
Reply:Great interpretation! It is a poem that really makes a person think.
